The examiner evaluates fluency, vocabulary usage, grammatical accuracy, pronunciation, and coherence in expressing ideas.

IELTS scores are reported on a nine-band scale, ranging from 1 (non-user) to 9 (expert user). Each band represents a different level of proficiency in the English language. The scores from the four sections are averaged to calculate an overall band score, reflecting candidates' language proficiency.
